Overview

What is Windmill?

Windmill takes the scripts your team already writes — Python, TypeScript, SQL, Bash — and turns them into production tools: scheduled jobs, multi-step workflows with retries and approvals, and auto-generated internal apps with forms and tables. Write the logic; Windmill provides the UI, the scheduler and the run history.

Internal-tool platforms bill per seat and per environment, which is a strange way to pay for automation your own team wrote. Self-hosted Windmill runs unlimited scripts, schedules and users at the flat price of the server it lives on.

How much does it cost to self-host Windmill?
Free to try — the Free plan is $0 and gives you one project on a livemy.site subdomain. Maker is $10/mo and adds a custom domain, 10 GB and a 99.5% uptime SLA; Pro is $25/mo. Daily backups are a $5/mo add-on. No per-seat or per-execution fees.
How is Windmill different from n8n?
n8n is visual-first: you wire ready-made integration nodes. Windmill is script-first: you write small scripts and it turns them into workflows, schedules and internal apps. Teams with some code comfort often run both — both are in the gallery.
What languages can I use?
