Overview

What is Ghost?

Ghost is an open-source publishing platform built for serious writing: a fast editor, clean themes, built-in SEO, and native memberships with paid newsletters. It powers everything from personal blogs to full media businesses — without a page builder fighting you along the way.

The hosted routes both take a cut of your growth. Substack keeps 10% of every paid subscription, and Ghost(Pro) pricing climbs with your member count. Self-hosted Ghost flips that: the platform takes nothing, your audience list is yours, and the cost is a flat server price no matter how many readers sign up.

On livemy.app you pick the Ghost template, click deploy, and your site is live with SSL in about two minutes — no Docker, no database setup. Connect your own domain when you're ready, and your content and member list stay on your own server.

Why deploy here

Same app, no meter running

These tools are free and open source. What you normally pay for is someone else's server — and their pricing page.

0% revenue share

Substack keeps 10% of every paid subscription. Self-hosted Ghost keeps nothing — what your readers pay is what you keep.

Your audience is yours

Members, emails and content live in your own database, on your own domain. Move, export or back them up whenever you like.

No maintenance rabbit hole

SSL, storage and redeploys are handled for you. New Ghost release? One click and you're on it — no server to log into.

How it works

Three steps, about two minutes

01

Pick the Ghost template

Choose it from the gallery. Nothing to download, nothing to configure — the template already knows how Ghost should run.

02

Click deploy

livemy.app builds it and gives you a live URL with SSL. Storage is attached automatically, so your data survives every restart.

03

Make it yours

Connect a custom domain and redeploy anytime in one click — from the dashboard, or triggered over MCP by the AI tool you already use.

FAQ

Self-hosting Ghost, answered

How much does it cost to self-host Ghost?
Free to try — the Free plan is $0 and gives you one project on a livemy.site subdomain. Maker is $10/mo and adds a custom domain, 10 GB and a 99.5% uptime SLA; Pro is $25/mo. Daily backups are a $5/mo add-on. No per-member fees, no revenue share.
Is self-hosted Ghost hard to maintain?
Not here. The template ships with storage and free SSL already wired up. When a new Ghost version lands you click redeploy in the dashboard — or trigger it over MCP from your AI tool. There's no server to patch and nothing to install on your computer.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, on Maker ($10/mo) and above — for a publication that's the plan to be on. Point your domain at the project and livemy.app issues the certificate for you. On the Free plan your site lives on a livemy.site subdomain.
Can I send newsletters from self-hosted Ghost?
Yes. Publishing and memberships work out of the box; for bulk newsletter sending Ghost connects to an email provider like Mailgun in its settings. Your subscriber list stays in your own database either way.
