Overview

What is Outline?

Outline is an open-source team wiki that feels like a fast, focused slice of Notion: a clean markdown editor, real-time collaboration, nested collections, powerful search and SSO. It's built for documentation — onboarding guides, processes, specs — rather than trying to be an everything-app.

Hosted wikis bill per user per month, so documentation — the thing you want everyone reading — gets more expensive with every teammate. Self-hosted Outline has no per-user meter: invite the whole company, and the price stays the flat price of the server.

On livemy.app you pick the Outline template, click deploy, and your wiki is live with SSL in about two minutes. Every document lives in your own database, exportable as plain markdown whenever you want it — no lock-in, no export request tickets.

Why deploy here

Same app, no meter running

These tools are free and open source. What you normally pay for is someone else's server — and their pricing page.

Unlimited members, one price

Notion and Confluence bill per user — documentation gets pricier as the team grows. Self-hosted Outline doesn't count members at all.

Your docs, your database

Processes, specs and internal knowledge live on your own server, exportable as markdown anytime — not locked inside a vendor's workspace.

No maintenance rabbit hole

SSL, storage and redeploys are handled for you. New Outline release? One click and you're on it — no server to log into.

How it works

Three steps, about two minutes

01

Pick the Outline template

Choose it from the gallery. Nothing to download, nothing to configure — the template already knows how Outline should run.

02

Click deploy

livemy.app builds it and gives you a live URL with SSL. Storage is attached automatically, so your data survives every restart.

03

Make it yours

Connect a custom domain and redeploy anytime in one click — from the dashboard, or triggered over MCP by the AI tool you already use.

FAQ

Self-hosting Outline, answered

How much does it cost to self-host Outline?
Free to try — the Free plan is $0 and gives you one project on a livemy.site subdomain. Maker is $10/mo and adds a custom domain, 10 GB and a 99.5% uptime SLA; Pro is $25/mo. Daily backups are a $5/mo add-on. No per-user fees at any size.
Is self-hosted Outline hard to maintain?
Not here. The template ships with the database and free SSL already wired up. When a new Outline version lands you click redeploy in the dashboard — or trigger it over MCP from your AI tool. There's no server to patch and nothing to install on your computer.
Can I put the wiki on my own domain?
Yes, on Maker ($10/mo) and above — wiki.yourcompany.com instead of a subdomain. Point your domain at the project and livemy.app issues the certificate for you. SSL is included on every plan.
How do teammates sign in?
Outline signs users in through providers like Google Workspace, Slack or any OIDC-compatible service — you connect one from the settings of your own instance, so access follows the accounts your team already has. Documents can also be shared publicly by link when you choose.
