Overview

What is Vikunja?

Vikunja is an open-source task manager that covers the whole spectrum: simple to-do lists, kanban boards, Gantt timelines and calendar views, with labels, assignees, reminders and sharing. Light enough for a personal list, capable enough for a small team's projects.

Task apps are subscription classics — a few euros per user per month, forever, for what is essentially a list. Self-hosted Vikunja ends that: unlimited projects, unlimited people, one flat price, and your plans stay in your own database instead of another productivity cloud.

On livemy.app you pick the Vikunja template, click deploy, and it's live with SSL in about two minutes. Make your first list, invite the family or the team, and the subscription line item disappears.

Why deploy here

Same app, no meter running

These tools are free and open source. What you normally pay for is someone else's server — and their pricing page.

One price, whole team

Task apps bill per user per month. Self-hosted Vikunja doesn't count users — share projects with anyone at the flat price of the server.

Views for every brain

The same tasks as a list, a kanban board, a Gantt chart or a calendar — switch per project instead of buying a different tool per view.

No maintenance rabbit hole

SSL, storage and redeploys are handled for you. New Vikunja release? One click and you're on it — no server to log into.

How it works

Three steps, about two minutes

01

Pick the Vikunja template

Choose it from the gallery. Nothing to download, nothing to configure — the template already knows how Vikunja should run.

02

Click deploy

livemy.app builds it and gives you a live URL with SSL. Storage is attached automatically, so your data survives every restart.

03

Make it yours

Connect a custom domain and redeploy anytime in one click — from the dashboard, or triggered over MCP by the AI tool you already use.

FAQ

Self-hosting Vikunja, answered

How much does it cost to self-host Vikunja?
Free to try — the Free plan is $0 and gives you one project on a livemy.site subdomain. Maker is $10/mo and adds a custom domain, 10 GB and a 99.5% uptime SLA; Pro is $25/mo. Daily backups are a $5/mo add-on. No per-user fees.
Can I import from Todoist or Trello?
Yes — Vikunja has built-in importers for Todoist, Trello and Microsoft To Do exports, so an existing setup moves over in minutes rather than by hand.
Does it work on my phone?
The web app is fully responsive and works well from a phone browser; tasks with due dates can also sync out via CalDAV to your calendar apps.
Is self-hosted Vikunja hard to maintain?
Not here. The template ships with the database and free SSL already wired up. When a new Vikunja version lands you click redeploy in the dashboard — or trigger it over MCP from your AI tool. There's no server to patch and nothing to install on your computer.
